American political leadership has taken on very familiar and destructive behaviors over the last several years. There was last week's Obama administration tactic of establishing an email address (flag@whitehouse.gov) where "good-thinking" people could act as "concerned citizens" and forward the White House emails or information from "bad-thinking" people who are critical of the government's socialized health care plan.
From: Rob Purdie <robert.purdie@gmail.com> To: flag@whitehouse.gov Date: Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 10:23 AM Subject: Hi - Just Wanted to Rat Myself Out Mailed by: gmail.com Details: 10:23 AM Good morning, I thought you'd be interested to know that I'm one of those people who opposes a government-run health care initiative. And I oppose it on the basis of principle, not fact. Americans should always rely upon one another and themselves, not the government. Sometimes such a system of self-reliance and interdependence will fail. But even an infinite number of failures within such a free system is preferable to zero failures under a system run by any government. So there's no data you can show me nor any philosophy you can advocate that will change my mind. Consequently, you may wish to just detain and isolate me now so that I don't further contaminate your efforts. Just be aware that I will resist such efforts at detention and isolation for this alleged offense with all resources, up to and including violent self-defense. Here's hoping we meet under more pleasant circumstances instead. Have a nice day, Robert A. Purdie 1991 Academy St. NE Palm Bay, FL 32905 The above email was sent to the White House's health care reform "truth squad"email address by the blog writer. His subsequent disappearance and/or unfortunate accident are currently being planned. Ron Howard is set to direct.
The federal government's "CARS" or "Cash for Clunkers" program was refinanced last week to the tune of $2 billion . . . without any concrete stipulations from the Appropriations Committee of either the House or Senate. This is violates Article 1, Section 9 of the Constitution of the United States - but, who's counting anymore? Lately, I have reconsidered my initial support for the Patriot Act. While I do not question George W. Bush's motives (only his good sense), it is obvious to me now that whenever a chief executive exceeds his or her constitutional authority, they are then obligated to restore the status quo before their departure. Whatever motives may have been held in corrupting the process, the chief executive who will follow doesn't necessarily have the same value set. So either a). put things back the way you got them, or b). don't manipulate the rules at all in the first place. I'm more inclined to b). Either way, the manner in which the Patriot Act was implemented and has now been abandoned to its own mechanations has been a mistake. We have left behind American self-reliance for the comfort of government dependence. We are no longer a democratic republic; we are a class-stratified oligarchy. Politicians and bureaucrats re-define the rules of government the way whores would re-define rules of sexual fidelity . . . the key difference being we don't tolerate such dictates from prostitutes. Congress is not a representative body of Americans anymore than The Hills is representative of young adults in America. Both are elitist subsets that have exaggerated senses of self and false senses of connection with a rapidly changing and disintegrating culture.
The last Congress I can find data for, the 108th Congress, was fully 40% lawyers. I am certain that percentage hasn't changed significantly. But it's almost the same percentage as the 1st United States Congress (95 members; 40 of them lawyers). The problem, however, is not the profession; it's the perspective of the members. The current administration and its Democrat flunkies accuse people who disagree with their perspective of government-run health care as being part of some deep anti-American conspiracy. Well, to those rampaging idiots I say conspiracies require participants. And the more participants that are involved in opposing you, the less of a conspiracy it becomes - until you're just left as a bunch of paranoid delusionals adhering to destructive ideologies. Oh, sorry. We're already at that point. |
